EDM Pressed Olive eyeshadow swatches

Everyday Minerals Pressed Olive eyeshadow swatches

Not much to say, boring eyeshadow. Never enjoyed wearing it and it's had been frankened into something useful.
I found these swatches resting in my draft, apparently been here since last summer. ooops :D

Swatch: EDM Bird bath

Hey there

I have a few swatches of Everday Minerals shadow in Bird Bath.
I will say i like the color and don't appreciate how sheer it is and I would not repurchase.

Not really sure what to say about the color other than it's a very warm taupe  and sheer and light reflecting.
Pretty but not gasp/jawdrop/mustpwnyou material.

PCB: EDM Jane Eyre swatches

Hi

I decided to swatch all items in my Project Cute Box as I go and used them. This time it's Everyday Minerals eyeshadow, shade swatched Jane Eyre.
This shade is the embodiment of neutral, yet it has a bit of a sheen that is by no means overwhelming.
Would I repurchase? Nope, it's too boring.

Althought this shade looks stunning on cheeks if you want a contour with a slight glow at the same time.

When you foil it, it shows more of the white sheen and leans more toward a satin finish.

Here you can see, the shiney part is foiled and the matte looking shade is just a finger swatch. it's actually quite pretty. Neutral gals will love this. For me it's a bit on the cooler side.

You don't care about Jane eyre? want some Nyx Pearl Mania instead?

Swatches: EDM e/s in Shopping Spree

I was going through my Everyday Minerals collection to find things I want to include in Project Cute Box.
I was able to pick out quite a few things I was meh about and wanted to use up so I can stream my love on things I actually enjoy using.

I found Everyday Minerals eyeshadow in Shopping Spree and thought: ''Perfect, another boring brown I can use up in no time''.  and then ... then I swatched it!
Talk about WOW factor!

Here is a picture of it in it's sifter jar. You can see why i thought it was nothing special. It's brown with blue/green sparkle shinning throught.
Everyday Minerals eyeshadow in Shopping Spree pictures and swatches, swatch

Well, Everyday Minerals eyeshadow in Shopping Spree, let's swatch you, shall we. HA! Look at that. When swatched wet, the shadow has a holographic green glaze. Beautiful, right?

But wait, there is more to it.
Yes, indeed.

When the light hits it, the hologaphic green douchorme shifts to bright teal! Jaw dropping effect this had on me.

Everyday Minerals eyeshadow in Shopping Spree pictures and swatches, swatch

However, I think this will go back to the original douchrome color you see on the picture above when the shadow dries. But I washed it off before considering that as an option. I'll have to try it out on the eyes to make sure.
I've never used this shade on the eyes before, can you believe that?
My collection isn't even big and I still have these hidden treasures,

I think I know why.
When I first got these minerals a year ago, I had no idea what to do with and how to use them properly to get the best results. I just treated it like a regular eyeshadow which did not do them any justice what so ever. And primers are usesless on my dry skin.

It's either emoliant base or wet application that do it for me.

I'll be a good girl from now on =)

So, any hidden gems in your collection recently? Tell me all about it <3

Monolid (hooded eyes) eyeshadow application tip

Hi, darlings.

What I have here is example of what my Sony Ericsson Vivaz smartphone can do with it's HD  camera at optimal daylight condition. Now, I realize that computer monitors and monitors setting will vary, but on mine these picture show the true colors and shading of this eye makeup to a T.

On the lids I foiled EDM eyeshadow in Bird Bath and runned it along the lower lashline.
As usual, I'm not wearing any browbone highlight.

And the contours of my eyes are defined by a medium brown shade. A matte one. Notice I did not place e color in the crease but rather just above it, going by my eye's bone structure. It leaves little space for highlighting, but it makes my lids appear much, much larger. Which is something I'm always concerned about, with all these gorgeous dove-eyed bloggers and youtubers setting such a strong example of how big eyes can be make-up. But dear gurus, not EVERYBODY needs a deep crease color to make their eyes look more prominent ;) Just a thought.

The very last step was to add a cat liner. If I go for liner, this is how I tend to do it. Feels more flatteringthan anything else I've tried. And soon to be discontinued (*throws a tantrum*) Essence Black Mania Waterproof liquid liner is just the thing to do the job. Oh, cheap product, how I love yee. It's black and it stays put until it's removed by oily make-up remover. Regular make-up remover doesn't even budge it.

with this silly new blog layout I have to keep pictures small, so feel free to click on them to
view them full-size.

For mascara you can use the above raved liner which I've been doing and LOVED the result.
But here I'm wearing my normal coats of IsaDora Waterproof mascara on the upper lashes. Lower lashes are coated with my new discovered love which is,of course, going to be discontinued as
well. Lets just keep all this pictures in loving memory of Essence Multi Action Mascara.

Seriously, how I am suppose to live without these essentials :D Essence, you are being plain silly!

That's all I wanted to share =)
Hope you are having a fantastic time, guys!

Daytime Purple Smokey

UPDATED Feb 20, 2012
Avon tests on animals and I felt I need to let you know
I will not be buying from them again. You can further read about this issue HERE

Hello all =)

Here is a wearable smokey eyes for daytime. I would consider this work appropriate.
One shade of purple, blended out.
Used a black pencil to line the rims of my eyes.
Eyeshadow: Everday Minerals Blush in Cookie Sheet
Eyeliner: Avon Supershock gel liner pencil

That's basically all that is to it.

Does peach make you look fat?

Hi
Here is another look from January, which you can see by how short my hair was. It doesn't look blended in this picture, because the transitional color was too pale to show up with photography skills such as mine.  :P

The star of this look is Everday Minerals Dusty Miller, applied oved a white base. I used white to highlight the inner corners. And the outer corners are defined by browns for the IsaDora Classic Browns palette.

On my waterline I'm wearing Nxy lipliner
LIPS: IsaDora mostuirizing lip gloss with jojoba oil (it's a sheer peach)
CHEEKS: Everday Minerals Dusty Miller applied with a light hand.

But seriously, how lovely is this shade!
on top of everything, makes my eyecolor to show up more blue. Which is a bonus, I love blue eyes.

You can tell this was done during the finals because of all the breakouts. When I'm studingy (hard) I tend to pick at my face and many times I subconsciously butcher my skin. And, of course, get bacteria in deeper levels in the skin. Which all makes up for pimply skin.
Yay me.
Self mutulation can suck like that!
So, yeah. I'm trying to be a good blogger with posting, but I am unable to do new content unitl July 5.
Bare with me, gorgeous.

Experiment of the Day - ExOTD

What is an Experiment of the Day? ExOTD is a look, that is only a draft, a sketch of what a certain look could be like. I do it on a bare face (no foundation), without mascara and over a water soluble base.
Why? So that I can just wash them off right after and if I'm pleased with the result, I will recreate it in a more elaborate manner :D

The purpose of these looks is simply to practice the skills and acquire a certain technique.

Today, I tried using a matte blush, New Mom by  Everday Minerals, as a face paint. Was trying to create a patteren on my lids.

So what I learnt with it is that paint like consistency travels well beyond the line
you draw, so precision is an issue. However, it gives you a very nice crisp line.
Suitable for editorial looks! I adore editorial looks, but am not good a creating them.
Good for Halloween as well, I makes you look a wee bit sick :P

I shall be using this for my further improvement :)

Do you ever keep the pictures of looks you feel aren't good
or do you just delete them all the minute you upload them to the computer?

Regards,
~ V.

Anita's Lucky Day

Oh, yes, a very lucky friend of mine got the chance to get her eyebrows filled with purple and foundation poured over her. IT WAS AN ACCIDENT, I swear :D

Used:
EMD eyeshadow Wood Sorrel
purple (from a product I do not recommend so it shall stay anonymous)
black eyeshadow

She has the best lid space EVER.

Wood Sorrel mineral eyeshadow used on the lids

The liner she said wasn't heavy enough so I added a bit of Essence liquid liner.
But with her crazy lid space she can draw on an inch of a thick line and would still
look great.

So, in conclusion, I need to practice on other people more. It's hard work!
Looking back at the pictures I can so obviously see everything I did wrong. =)

HAUL/SWAP:Everyday Minerals Foundation Samples

Been into swapping lately, and I swapped my Lily Lolo samples for EDM samples. I already have a few eyeshadows by EDM.
Picture below. Review and more swatches coming up once I form an opinion of the products.

Ker sem že ravno v zanosu menjave izdelkov ... no, tokrat je šlo za izmenjavo mojih Lily Lolo testerčkov za testerčke podlag EDM. Od EDM (Everday Minerals)
že imam nekaj senčil. Več podrobnosti o izdelku bom objavila, ko zadeve malo bolje spoznam.

Swaps are so addicting, don't you think? :D

Everyday Minerals Yays and Nays

If you read my previous post you know what I managed to acquire.
This is going to be a brief run-through of all the things that I liked and the ones that I didn't like.

Let me start with the rejects.  I don't particulary like them simply because there are more pigmented dupes in my collection. I already ''recycled'' Bird bath and Smokey Pink.

My precious <3:

This is the batch that I *KNOW* for a fact I'll get a lot use of. I don't really ever want to run out of Midnight Rose blush! It's so darn pretty.

 Lovely everyday colors.

I don't have many neutrals, because I love colors that much. But I just discovered how flattering these shades are on my blue eyes.

Everyday Minerals Swap

Hey, beautiful people, how are all of you doing today?

I thought a beauty blog would be a good idea, but it is SO much work.
Lately, I've done a few swaps and I'm finding time to put some content up. YAY. The only girls I've ever swapped with are the lovely forumese (is that even a word ?) from Ars cosmetica.

I am such a sucker for things in pots, and I only use cruetly free products.
Yet, I had no mineral eyeshadows apart from Sweetscents' Midnight Burgundy.
The following haul and swatches of Everday Minerals would not be possible without the sweet girl known as  Lyra. If you are into nail art, you'll love her blog.

I'll get the hang of swatching and picture editing. Eventually. Bare with me, I got so much stuff to learn. *blush*

Here's a group picture of all the goodies I got! There's lucent powder samples in the top, blush samples in the middle, and a bunch of eyeshadows in the bottom row.

Alright, let's get down to business. Starting with earth tones, I have Cafe, Jane Eyre, Baby Bath, Spin Cycle and Sunset Voyage, all swatched over a white primer.

All the earth tones swacthed in reverse;
(from left to right) Sunset Voyage, Sping Cycle, Baby Bath, Jane Eyre, and Cafe.

So basically, what I can tell you about these based on my first impression is that most of the eyeshadows have the same gold sparkle to them. They are mostly satin finish, have such lovely consistency (you know, that thick mineral feel), they go on easily and I've had excelent staying power on my lids. I do have dry lids, so I apply them over creamy concealer that would probably crease on most people.

I did, however, noticed they change color on me once they soak up all the oil of the concealer. Perfectly understandable, and it only makes them more darker and the pigment shows up heaps better that way.

My two favorites are Cafe and Diary.

Blushes. I have an array of matte, satin and shimmery finish. I'm not feeling
the shimmery blush so I am most definately using them as eyeshadows. Swatches on the right are Fresh Air blush and Lavander color corrector.

The blushes Cookie Sheet, Sand Cherry, and Viki's Radiant Creation:

Swatches of the Lucent powders

Swatches of the matte blushes; Nick Nack, Sprung, and Midnight Rose:
MOOOOOOOORE eyeshadows :)  Swatched as is the order of the jars.

Golly, I'm exhausted! That's it for today, but do expect a detailed post regarding these, with lots of pictures and recomendations. It's going to be a post about my favorites and not so favorite.

Regards,
~ V.

Let's do Dusty Miller

I wonder if you noticed but I adore Dusty Miller

It's Everyday Minerals lucent poweder (whatever that means) and I use it for my cheeks and eyes. To me, it's the most perfect wearable pastel coral. And like all EDM shadows it adheres to my skin without any base at all and stays there.

Here a simple look.  I'm not sure what the other used color on the lid is.

Pretty neutral, daytime sutible with a wee bit of a color P_O_P =)

Oh, the joy of mineral make-up ...
