Swatches: EDM e/s in Shopping Spree

I was going through my Everyday Minerals collection to find things I want to include in Project Cute Box.
I was able to pick out quite a few things I was meh about and wanted to use up so I can stream my love on things I actually enjoy using.

I found Everyday Minerals eyeshadow in Shopping Spree and thought: ''Perfect, another boring brown I can use up in no time''.  and then ... then I swatched it!
Talk about WOW factor!

Here is a picture of it in it's sifter jar. You can see why i thought it was nothing special. It's brown with blue/green sparkle shinning throught.
Everyday Minerals eyeshadow in Shopping Spree pictures and swatches, swatch

Well, Everyday Minerals eyeshadow in Shopping Spree, let's swatch you, shall we. HA! Look at that. When swatched wet, the shadow has a holographic green glaze. Beautiful, right?

But wait, there is more to it.
Yes, indeed.

When the light hits it, the hologaphic green douchorme shifts to bright teal! Jaw dropping effect this had on me.

Everyday Minerals eyeshadow in Shopping Spree pictures and swatches, swatch

However, I think this will go back to the original douchrome color you see on the picture above when the shadow dries. But I washed it off before considering that as an option. I'll have to try it out on the eyes to make sure.
I've never used this shade on the eyes before, can you believe that?
My collection isn't even big and I still have these hidden treasures,

I think I know why.
When I first got these minerals a year ago, I had no idea what to do with and how to use them properly to get the best results. I just treated it like a regular eyeshadow which did not do them any justice what so ever. And primers are usesless on my dry skin.

It's either emoliant base or wet application that do it for me.

I'll be a good girl from now on =)

So, any hidden gems in your collection recently? Tell me all about it <3

Dusty miller, naked and Ballerina on the waterline

Simple eye look. Why? Because I take pictures of basically any MU I wear and in most cases I do quick and simple eyes and then take pictures in a rush =)

Step 1: a white mouse shadow all over the lid, up to the browbone and even on the water line (Essence Balerina Backstage Dance the Swan Lake)

Step 2: shimmery dusty pink all over the lide (UD Naked, Sin)

Step 3: Pastel matte peach eyeshadow in the crease. + mascara, + (optional) liner.

excuse the creepy angle

Here is a comparsion how my eyes look with and without liner. Notice how incredibly short my lashes look after liner. :S
   Well, that's all.
Thank you for reading <3.

Giveaway winners and new giveaway goodies :)

My two giveawys are now offically closed.

After a good hour of counting entries I finally sorted them and I have already contacted the winners.
Essence stuff goes to Dorkaa and EDM eyeshadow to Mateja. :)

 May they serve you well!

I will also like to thank you all for answering the little non-mandatory question. You provided valuable feed-back, I agree with a lot of what was said and it will help me to improve and give this blog more quality and substance. Thank you, darlings <3

Now, I understand this will now triggier a mass de-following. Oh, well, we don't need bad karma around here anyway. Those that stay will have a chance to win 8 Nyx Pearl Manias.
Yeah, baby! The entry form is scheduled to go up tomorrow.

I also got a wholesale package of 1000 sample baggies. LOL.
Which means I'll also be sharing my Dazzle Dusts in future giveaways when I come back from vacation in October. On top of that, if you want to do a sample-for-sample swap, let me know :D

<3,

Overdoing the liner, AGAIN

This is going to be one of those looks that fotograph horribly but look gorgeous in real-life.
Not so much the shading work, but it's how it all comes together on my face, making me look better than I would with no make-up.

You know what I mean?

So simplicity ftw
IsaDora Pearls palette, the darkest color all over the place and fadded into the crease. White shimmery highlight.
Essence liquid eyeliner (waterproof) on taop lashline and in the waterline. Because it's waterproof and oily it doesn't sting my eye when I put it there but I still have to be careful. I'd advise you against it.

 This is it.
Thank you for reading. <3

Fyrinnae drama?

It's what we've all been wondering - what the feck, Fyrinnae, watcha you guys doing?
So, they currently have their site up with note that they are closed. Not sure if you can order at this momement.

I've read a few speculation as to why this is commonplace with Fyrinnae. And you know whaaa? I DON'T care!

Why?

Because I got a few samples in swap. YAY *throws confetti and frolics in piles of rainbow glitter*
I'll be swatching them individually and have a single post for each color because
I have way tooo much pictures for one single post. I think I'll max out my Picassa storage with these lol.

Well, here they are. My little babies.

From left to right:

Fyrinnae eyeshadow in Bastet
Fyrinnae Arcane Magic eyeshadow in Glitterboi
Fyrinnae eyeshadow in Meercat
Fyrinnae Arcane Magic eyeshadow in Mystic
Fyrinnae eyeshadow in Fyre and Ice
Fyrinnae eyeshadow in Red Panda
Fyrinnae Arcane Magic eyeshadow in Velve Vampire

I would die of happines to have a full-size of Fyre and Ice, Mystic and my yet-to-be-aqcuired Mephisto.

Project Cute Box: Fun new project @ Gone2RehabBRB

I am starting a fun little project for me. If any of you want to join it, leave me links to your PCB in the comments. SO, this is essentially taking a cute box that you may have, any size, it doesn't matter.
And then fill it with less loved make-up items, almost used make-up items and (mineral) make-up samples.

We're getting very close to Project 10 Pan here, with slight differences;
- you do not have to use things up
- you are allowed to buy new things, if the color is not the same to
any of the product in the box
- it's all stored neatly in a cute box

Why a box? Why a CUTE box?

Simple. I find it SOOOOOOOO much more enticing to use product if they are presented or stored in a visually pleasing packaging.
It' s also a bit more mysterious that way, because you have to open it and look inside. I feel like a child.

Seriously, it's exciting. =)
Now check out my cute box. Slovene readers might get a chuckle
out of this because the tins were a part of Libresse promotion.
But it's mega cute, OK?!

A quick look inside; EDM samples and misc mineral sample baggies.

The question is, will you be joining me on this little project?
<3,
V.

Ps. my giveaways end on Tuesdays so get your entries in, tell a friend etc.
They will be followed by Nyx Pearl Mania Giveaway, so don't be discouraged,
that one will have a more flexible rules so it will be more enter-friendly. =)

Alverde 2-phase MU Remover

1. STINGS MY EYES. A lot. It's due to it's high alcohol content. Leave my skin irritated and it in pain.
2. When used on the face to clean foundation, it does clean it. And within minutes the skin starts to feel very tight and uncomfortable.

Regret buying it and will not repurchase.

Highlight the center of your lid

Hilighting is not a new concept but I love how you can make any simple look seem more elaborate, like you've don't a ton of blending, shading and crease work.
When in reality, I only popped a neutral shadow over the lid and then foiled a bit of honey-esque shimmery shadow over the center of my lids.

It's not a particular shade, I mixed random loose powder by Nyx and the shadeI am talking about is HERE and HERE and also Here.

The color all over the lid is IsaDora Classic Browns' medium warm brown.

Lush Henna Hair Dye

Yes, after 3 years of virign hair I decided to play up my hair color. Felt like having a change. And because I am cruetly free it took a lot of research to find something that is not tested on animals. Apparently the best thing is pure henna, henna tattoo quailty that has no other ingriedents but henna. Well, I could not find it.

Mind you, box henna dyes are always filled with either alcohol, eg. Logona Natrual Cosmetics hair dye, or it is just the usual chem-coctail that has henna as colorant. Ladies, please read into your INCI before buying anything even remotly resembling ''henna'' dye.

Lush was what came up in forums. I has henna and indigo bind together with shea butter and botanicals such as nettles, coffee, etc. Said to be moisturizing. They sell these in chocolate-looking bars, named Caca Brun, Caca Noir, Caca Maroon and Caca Rouge.
I'm dying to try Caca Rouge (pun intended :P)

The color turned out beautiful and it unfonunately faded to my natural color after a few washes. So I tried dying it again, this time using black tea with in place of  water. It worked but only for a while. The color fades out like something crazy.
I think it must be because it is very close to my natural color, only a bit more on the deeper side.

I'm looking forward to trying the red and black versions of these!
Unfortunately this particular shade doesn't do much for me.

The overall process is messy, yet I like it for that reason alone. I feel like I'm a kid playing
with mud. =)

Swatches: lily lolo Chocolate Fudge Cake e/s

The most underrated eyeshadows of the Lily Lolo mineral make-up company.  Honestly, some of the shades are spectacular but there is rarely any interest in these puppies, it seems Lily Lolo builds its fame on foundations primarily. I've seen even  Sirvyna talk about merely 2 shades, max.

Their Chocolate Fudge Cake mineral eyeshadow is a true gem. It's a deep purple with a red-leaning-toward
plum shade with a blue duochrome in it. When foiled, it has a blue sheen over that reddish purple base.
And I cannot for the life of me find many swatches online. So here is my attempt.

My camera only wanted to focus on the wet application but you can see the color scheme this shadow has. In the middle, you can see the base. My dry skin doesn't grab eyeshadow very well, that's why it's looking so sheer.

Lily Lolo Chocolate Fudge Cake mineral eyeshadow swatches, Lily Lolo Slovenija

A got a sample of this in a swap last year with Biba's Beauty Corner, but only looked at it and thought ''Yeah, cute. Whatever.'' And chucked it in with rest of samples.  Recently, I rediscovered it. Upon swatching and gasping for air I just had to order this eyeshadow today, beacuse Slovene Lily Lolo site is having a 15 % off on all their eyeshadows. I nearly died, like, talk about perfect timinig.

Kinda pricey, but I think it's worth it. I ordered 3 more shades and cannot be more delighted to play around with them. And I'll practice my swatching, I think I might have worked out a good teqnique for improvement.

Slovene buyers, you can check it out here: Lilylolo.si
The eyeshadow I'm talking about is here: Chocolate Fudge Cake

International buyers can pop by here: Lilylolo.co.uk and Chocolate Fudge Cake

Products used:

Orange and yellow: Sleek I-divine in Sunset

And theeen I thought it would be fun to add glitter. it's purple LE barry m glitter.
Bird of paradise, much?
The whole thing photographed so badly. Which is a bit of a disappointment, but whatcha gonna do,
right?

Lily Lolo Hush

I bought this beautiful jar of a matte Lily Lolo eyeshadow in the shade Hush.

It's sort of a dusty pink, a pale heather color.

For some reason it looks amazing on me as a blush. Cool pinks don't do that, as general rule. But since I can work it on my cheeks, I knew the full-size product is a right choice if I want to use it up before it's shelf life comes to an end.
I don't know what did to for me, it must be that it is light enough for my pale skin and that is dusty enough not too look obnoxious Barbie pink that I dislike so much.

Here is a swatch. Seriously, how cute is this for a pale pink?
Left - heavy swatch over primer using a brush
Right - finger swatch (no base)
As far as using it as an eyeshadow I'd say it's not the most amazing matte, although it is velvety and smooth and it does not go on blochty at all. However, I need to build it up to a color or my linking.
Other than that if works AMAZING as a crease color or a transitonal color.
It was also comfotable to wear. With my sensitive eyes, I get irritaed with chalky dust of conventional talc-happy mattes. Which was a lovely surprise.

I think this is going to be a very long love affair.
Don't you think it's funny how certain products you just look in the jar and be ''meh, go away''  and when you try them, you're sold?

Why won't you focus???!!

Quick eyes of the day.

This look just refused to photograph and it looks a bit blotchy.

I used the highlight colors and the blue from my SLEEK MONACO i-divine palette.

The brown is my latest feature, the wonderful Kiko Color Sphere eyeshadow in shade 31

Phone light makes my lashes look wonky :(

I did a wee of contouring all over my ocular bone.

And I just wanted to give a quick reminder about my giveaways, still loads of time to enter.

Review: KIKO COLOR SPHERE e/s shade 31

Beacause this summer, I was fortunate enough to visit my friend and that meant shopping in Italy. I was out-voted but we still went to the Palmanova outlet village
'cuz I can be irritational like that.

So a picked up some true gems in the Kiko outlet stores. Today I'm showing you their Kiko Color Sphere eyeshadow. I only got one because I never expected this to be so friggin fantastic. If only Misschevous uploded her Kiko haul before I went there.

A few snapshots of the stunning Kiko Color Sphere eyeshadow in shade 31.They have a plastic clear lid and rubbery Nars-ish pot. They also come with sponge tip applicators.

Kiko Color Sphere 31 swatches

The black cardboard packaing is such a MAC rip-off it's not even funny :)
Contains 1,8 g of produt and has a shelf life of  18 months.
The idea is that it can be used either wet or dry, kinda like most similar produts, e.g. mineral baked eyeshadows.

Kiko Color Sphere eyeshadow shade 31 is a deep right chocolate brown, very dark but with gold shimmer shot through the shadow.
Here you can see a picture of it with added sun light and a bit of artifical light.

As you can see on the swatches below, it is a deeep deep chocolate brown base with a 'wet' effect gold shimmah when the light hits it.

Here is where the rave stops. The ingredients. Very crappy, but same damn shit as the 120, 88, and other numbered palette have. Even MAC and higher end brands are full of this.

Final thoughts:
- amazing value for money
- blendable without losing the color. You can actually *blend* it out, meaning make the color less opaque as opposed to scrapping off the product completely till all you have left is a muddy mess
- adheres to the skin nicely
- how it swatches is exactly the color it goes on the eyes
- inxepensive (roughly around € 4)

I think I've covered most things. Any question? Leave them below.

V.

sunset and monaco

UPDATED Feb 20, 2012
Avon tests on animals and I felt I need to let you know
I will not be buying from them again. You can further read about this issue HERE

Hey, darlings

You know, making eyeshadows looks for this blog makes me happy more than anything. You know that, right? So I hope you understand that I'm posting mainly this sort of  content  because that is what my blog is FOR.

So, yes. The make-up look. Here is a fun one for ya.  The orange is from Sleek Sunset i-divine palette, the pink one  and the plum one are from Sleek Monaco palette.

Very eye-catching combo, slightly on the less wearable side. Makes my eyecolor super bright though, so I'm fine with traumatizing kids with flashing orange lids in public. Just sayin'.

Corner and brow highlight is a matte off-white shade.
wiiii, sparkly. SPAHKLY.

A bit of face whoring. And check out that freshly dyed henna dye on my hair. Yummylicious Chestnuts ftw?

Rest of the products

Lips! Essence 50's Girl Reloaded lipstick in I'm sailing that you can win HERE.

Blush: Logona in the shade Peche. The lighter side of the duo.

Foundation: Avon Calming effect Illuminizing, shade Nude
Mascara: Isadora Waterproof and Essence Stays On (on the bottom lashes)

The plum shade I went very light on, I just used a tiny but. It brought the whole look together. It may not like it did in the pictures, but it really did in person. just ask the traumatized kids who saw me :P

Kiko Smokey Eyeshadow shade 08 Smokey Green Swatches

My Palmanova purchase

Kiko Smoky Shadow waterproof shade 08 Smokey Green
5 ml of product
Shelf life 6 months after opening
The applicator is the silliest thing every, a rubbery spatula that reminds me of a platypus.
Doesn't bother me too much, it's rather hygenic, actually.

The ingredients list:

Seriously, don't these swatches make you want to squee with happiness?
I nearly DIED.

It's a gel consistency that does not budge once it sets.Makes a beautiful base for powder eyeshadows to adhere to.Color is a beautifulysmoked out yumminess with a olive green base and TONS and TONS of dazzling sparkle.

Now look me straight in the eyes and tell me you don't want me to see do a few looks with this?

I bet you can't!

Alright, complaints.
a) The color and glitter separates from the gel when I apply it, so I need to either wait with my eyes closed to let it dry first OR I need to smooth it out with my finger and preferably applya bit of powder. either translucent powder or an eyeshadow in the same color family would work.

b) It only has a shelf life of 6 months and the amount you get is ridiculous. So much product can't be used
that quickly.

I would still repurchase because its longwearing and beautful.
C'mon guys, it's SPARKLE.
